Microsoft Word and later editions does not allow the user to put in two spaces after a period in any automatic way. You can set-up your grammar check to alert you when you have failed to place two spaces after a period. In Spaces Required Between Sentences, select 2. Now when you type your paper and insert only one space after a period, you will see a small green squiggly where you fail to put in two spaces, once you do a grammar check of your paper.

    Thank you!!! The last time I was in school was 10 years ago. This was so frustrating to me figuring out a page number AND header - not the actual paper. Why is word so difficult? Thank you, those instruction saved me lots of time I did not have. I been trying to do this for 2 days. I wouldn't never figure it out. I can write a paper like nobody's business, but for whatever reason the running header has never wanted to cooperate.

    In your template, you have the long quote indented a full inch and single-spaced. Also, there is no format for a second paragraph of a long quote if it is needed, which should have the first line indented half an inch. Finally, it would help if you added a format for body text that follows a long quote because if you are still in the same paragraph then that text should not be indented.
